Tetrafab: Custom Sewn Cases

Challenge
InFocus Corporation, a leading digital visual communications company, was looking for a way to protect their projectors and improve the out-of-box experience for their customers.  The typical experience for the end user was to open a cardboard master carton that included multiple cartons and bags containing the projector, power supply, cable assemblies, remote control, owner's manual, and other accessories.

Solution
Our Design team worked with InFocus Industrial Designers to develop a drawing for review.  In keeping with the described goals, our team designed a custom thermo-formed case to transform their multiple piece kit into an all-in-one system.  We made sure that case organized the projector and accessories in a way that protected them and made it easier to use the system.  Tooling was developed and a sample presented to show the quality and attention to detail that Tetrafab is known for in the industry.

The InFocus logo was embossed into the tooling to enhance the brand marketing.  Custom labels were also created to mark compartments within the case for ease of use.

Results
The custom case designed by Tetrafab was able to dramatically improve the end user's out-of-box experience.  The end user would open the master carton to find the custom thermo-formed case inside.  Upon unzipping the case, the end user finds the projector and accessory items each residing in custom form-fitting trays, each labeled for ease of use.  A quick start card resides in a clear PVC pocket to guide the end user in their first steps to use the projector, effectively removing the anxiety of working with a new piece of electronics.  By working with Tetrafab, InFocus was able to create a very positive end user experience while increasing the brand awareness and perceived quality of their product.
